Proposed merge[edit]

It has been proposed, by an anonymous editor, that Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé be merged into this page. I was not the proposer, but I believe I can explain the reasoning. The article under this title was originally about the person now described at Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé, the son of Peter Carl Faberge. It was effectively hijacked about 6 months ago to become an article about the current person, the son of Gustav Peter Faberge, reverted, (cut'n'paste) moved to Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé, then edited back to approximately its current state. I made a request for the histories of the two articles to be corrected to contain the correct attribution for edits in each article, and this has just been completed. Hopefully, that potted history helps people to understand the convoluted path to where we are today.

Note that the two articles are about two different people. Any merge would essentially be to roll back to before the title hijack, where this article was about the son of Peter Carl Faberge and there was no article about the son of Gustav Peter Faberge. • Don't merge: now my vote. On the basis that the subjects of both articles are notable (I think), deleting one would be counterproductive in that it just would need to be recreated under a different name. There are a (small) number of wikilinks to these two pages. The links to this page in particular appear to be looking for a mix of both people (and a third?), so there is no overriding need for this title to be about one or other person. Pageviews are approximately equal, although perhaps some of those were looking for the other person, so no obvious primary topic under this title. Finally, my proposal. At a minimum, there should be a hatnote on this page since it is an obvious source of confusion. Possibly it should be renamed to something less ambiguous and replaced with a dab page. Lithopsian (talk) 14:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No merge. @Lithopsian: I'm the one that added the merge tag. But, I added it when both articles (Agathon Fabergé and Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé) were still about the same person and basically identical; so, to be clear, I added the tag *before* these history mergings and your reverts. Now that these two articles are about different people, the merge tag is obsolete.
However, I support the idea that this page Agathon Fabergé should be a disambiguation page with links to Agathon Fabergé (should be renamed first of course: Agathon Fabergé (1862–1895) or something like that) and Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé.
Also, Agathon Carl Theodor Fabergé still needs to be relinked to its Wikidata item after all these history mergings. 91.158.232.8 (talk) 19:08, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another hijacking[edit]

The article was hijacked again. I restored an old revision and added a hatnote to hopefully prevent that happening again. 85.156.64.153 (talk) 18:53, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
