Etymology and spelling[edit]

alright, so this has been wrong for years. Not only did the article confuse ayin with aleph, it also incorrectly suggested, in the title, that the root is [aleph]-dal-nun, while in reality it is dal-waw/yod-nun.

This makes me wonder if the Ugaritic references are correct. The Hebrew spelling is 'dwn. The article claims the Ugaritic spelling is 'adn, i.e. without the waw. Is this correct? --dab (𒁳) 19:11, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Use of adoni and adonai for Humans and God[edit]

The article states that adoni is used for God in Psalm 16:2. This is incorrect; the word there is adonai. The article also states that adonai is reserved only for God. This is also incorrect; adonai is used by Gideon for the angel of YHWH (whom Gideon does not yet know is an angel) in Judges 6:15, and is used by Shecaniah for Ezra in Ezra 10:3.
