Spelling of name[edit]

Origin of Liszt family

There is no scientifical proof about what ethnical origin the Liszt family had. They could have been of germanic, slavic and/or magyar origin. List actually means treeleaf in some slavic languages from what then was in the Hungarian Kingdom: croatian and/or slovak. Liszt means flour in hungarian. The familyname could have been of germanic origin as well. Almost all hungarians have since centuries had magyar, slavic and germanic ancestors.
