Neutrality disputed[edit]

IMHO the "scientific basis" section is misleading. It's mixing studies specific to the DN-114001 strain and articles which deal with Lactobacillus casei in general. As the L. casei article specifies, According to World Health Organization, those properties have to be demonstrated on each specific strain. In the section, some of the articles referenced aren't related to the DN-114001 strain which is the active ingredient of Actimel; thus the section is giving the impression that there are more articles related to the purported health properties of Actimel than actually exist. My suggestion is to move the references of those articles not dealing specifically with the Actimel strain to the Lactobacillus casei article, where they belong. I don't have the knowledge or time to read every article so maybe someone else can volunteer. --Pi (π) (talk) 10:16, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

14 years later, and there are still NPOV issues with this article. It is now dominated by a long section which basically suggests that Danone is a duplicitous company and Actimel is snake oil. There are good refs, but the overall tone is completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia and reads like a campaign document. Some people are very keen on probiotic dairy products and some people think they are worthless, but WP articles shouldn't take sides. If we are going to have a big section listing dismissive studies and regulatory criticism, we should at least also cover Danone's own research and the nature of their claims. My feeling is that the section is much too long and needs a drastic pruning. --Ef80 (talk) 10:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Activia article has a similar negative and hostile tone. --Ef80 (talk) 12:20, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
