Concept DAB[edit]

Should this be formatted as a philosophy article or a WP:CONCEPTDAB?—Machine Elf 1735 04:20, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The entries here don't seem to me to be related to a single concept and there doesn't seem to be enough content so far (not to mention zero secondary sources) for a standalone article about the philosophical concept. It seems that you disagree with the concept being synonymous with Tychism though. Could you please explain the difference between Accidentalism and Tychism? -- Fyrael (talk) 05:00, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I see now your response on the philosophy project page. However, I'm not sure what it means for the fate of this article. I personally don't see anything really that ties these entries together as one concept. Do you have more information and sources to flush this out as an article about the philosophical concept? -- Fyrael (talk) 05:04, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not opposed to renaming it Accidentalism (philosophy) for lack of a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and I think the (multiple) issues with the current philosophy stub are WP:SURMOUNTABLE, so... it definitely needs some work everybody.—Machine Elf 1735 05:53, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Concerning the edits made so far, shouldn't step one be removing the unrelated music, art, etc. information?

Machine Elf asked for my opinion here. I think there definitely needs to be a disambiguation page if there are multiple senses of "accidentalism" in different fields, and the stubby content on those different senses that are here right now should be moved into their own stub articles. I have no opinion on whether the philosophical sense should be merged to tychism or not as I'm not familiar enough with either term to judge; if not, then accidentalism (philosophy) would be a good name for the bulk of what's currently at this article. --Pfhorrest (talk) 22:08, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that we create stubs Accidentalism (medicine) and Accidentalism (painting), consisting of the content on those fields here; create an Accidentalism (philosophy) to which the bulk of the content here is to be moved, and where further discussion about a potential merger to Tychism can occur; and restore this page to a disambiguation page linking to those three articles and the existing Accidentalism and catastrophism article about the Spanish Civil War.

Since none of that involves edits that would be difficult to undo, I'm going to go ahead and be bold and do it right now, but I won't be upset if anybody objects and reverts. --Pfhorrest (talk) 23:13, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And upon further reflection, I have doubts about the viability of the painting and medicine stubs. I think we should see if they stick around or get deleted by newpage patrollers or people in their respective wikiprojects (I'm not sure how wikiprojects get notified of new pages in their scope, do we have to do that manually or does just categorizing it do that?). If they do get deleted, then given there would only be two pages to disambiguate, at that point I would support moving the philosophy article back to this name and just disambiguating with the Spanish history article via hatnotes. --Pfhorrest (talk) 03:58, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help. The philosophy stub, at least, can stand on it's own. I don't think a merge to tychism would work because it's a kind of accidentalism.—Machine Elf 1735 04:15, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
