Synthesis section moved here[edit]

I have moved the following reaction here from the article because something doesn't seem right to me:

Ph₂CO₂ + Cyclohexane → (HOC₆H₄)₂CO in the presence of MeSO₃H as a catalyst and with a reflux of 10 hours.

What chemical is Ph2CO2? I can't figure out the intented connectivity. And what role does cyclohexane play in this reaction? Is it just a solvent? -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
