Geometric Feature Assessment[edit]

The introduction to this section provides readers with a brief overview of the significance of the 3DBenchy’s unique geometry. This section includes a detailed description of each unique characteristic of the 3DBenchy’s geometry, alongside the 3D printing property it tests. The geometry included in this section tests 3D printer properties such as surface deviations, skewing and warping, parallelism, resolution accuracy, overhang, layer shifting, round and secluded geometry, and first-layer issues or squashing. This section is significant because it provides readers with a standard to visually assess the accuracy of their 3D printer.

Nominal Dimensions[edit]

The introduction to this section provides readers with a brief explanation of why measuring the dimensions of their 3DBenchy and comparing them to the nominal dimensions is significant. The nominal dimensions of the 3DBenchy are recorded in millimeters. The nominal dimensions include the diagonal length of the roof, the diameters and length of the chimney, the overall horizontal length of the 3DBenchy, the overall width of the 3DBenchy, the overall heights of the 3DBenchy, the interior and exterior dimensions of the rear box, the inner diameter and flange thickness of the hawsepipe, the interior dimensions of the front cabin window, the diameters and flange thickness of the circular rear cabin window, the overhang angle of the 3DBenchy’s bow, the cabin roof angle, and the thickness of the nameplate. Comparing dimensions to the 3DBenchy’s nominal dimensions is significant because the nominal dimensions provide a measurable baseline to accurately assess variation.

Creator of 3DBenchy[edit]

So the article lacks a mention of the name of the creator of benchy. I can't find an acceptable source for it, but some mention Daniel Norée (https://www.stemfie.org/?view=article&id=186:a-brief-story-about-the-origins-of-the-3dbenchy-boat-8-years-old&catid=13)

I'm not sure if I'd put that as a recerence, but I do think it's impirtant to memtion the creator by real name (if known) instead of username, specially for such an important calibration model for 3d printing. Oscar Lama (talk) 08:28, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
