Including Metro Mayoral results[edit]

Given the increasing number of PCCs being replaced by Metro Mayors (including all the ones in Yorkshire, as of next year) I think now would be a good time to discuss changing these articles to include Metro Mayors that have PCC powers. There are a few reasons for this:

1) Metro Mayors with PCC powers are listed alongside PCCs on the government's PCC elections website, suggesting the government views them in the same category (https://choosemypcc.org.uk/about-pccs/). They refer to: "Police and Crime Commissioners, Police, Fire, and Crime Commissioners, and Mayors with PCC or equivalent functions."

2) These articles already include results for Police, Fire and Crime Commissioners which are also technically different positions with different powers - yet they are still included

3) Metro Mayors hold exactly the same PCC powers as PCCs, they just hold *additional* powers on top. Similarly, local election articles in the UK will include results for councils with differing responsibilities and powers - but they are still ultimately all local councils, so they count.

Given the level of change I wanted to start a discussion before doing anything. FriendlyDataNerdV2 (talk) 14:53, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
