Entry lists[edit]

As the person who decided to start making lists of 'leading entries' for Dakar Rally articles, I feel like I should explain what I feel qualifies:

- Any driver/rider for a works or quasi-works team (e.g. Peugeot, X-Raid);
- Any former winners in that category;
- Drivers/riders with a recent track record of success in that category (e.g. top five overall finishes, multiple stage wins);
- Any drivers/riders notable for their exploits in other forms of motorsport - often, a good indication of this is if they already have their own Wikipedia entry.

I also feel it isn't always necessary to include all members of a team if not all of its members are sufficiently notable to warrant inclusion.

Obviously it would be difficult to establish a set of criteria that includes every competitor that readers could deem 'notable', but I tend to think it best to err on the side of caution so that the lists don't get out of control.

Other opinions on the matter are welcomed! :) Bluevulcansix (talk) 22:50, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree with Bluevulcansix proposal. Although its quite subjective, its better to restrain the leading entries to drivers with real possibilities to make good results (as explained above).Rpo.castro (talk) 09:16, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Have made a few changes - on reflection, I don't think other notable motorsport figures should automatically be included unless they're likely to fight towards the front; for example, I've removed the Coronel brothers and Lammers from the cars and trucks respectively.
