Requested Name Change

All media about the 2012 Wild Card Game refers to it as such, not the "Wild Card Playoff". This can be seen on MLB's official website here. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/ps.jsp?y=12 ..... I propose that the main Wild Card game be renamed to Wild Card Game, as other articles about the baseball postseason don't use MLB in the title, (Division Series, League Championship Series, World Series). I also think it would be wise to create separate articles about the NL and AL Wild Card Games, as the LDS and LCS have. This would follow suit with other Wikipedia articles, and would fall in line with the official media. --Rekameohs (talk) 10:07, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Right now we have the articles Major League Baseball Wild Card Game, 2012 American League Wild Card Game and 2012 National League Wild Card Game. So would you propose now to only move Major League Baseball Wild Card Game to Wild Card Game? Proposed merger with 2012 National League Wild Card Playoff

I think both Wild Card Playoff article should be merged into one and renamed as Wild Card Game and 2012 Wild Card Game, as Rekameohs suggested. They even use the same logo.--NULLSPACE (Φ) 20:50, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Oppose merge. We should keep the leagues seperate by convention as we do for the other postseason series. As for the rename, User:Leesw616 moved the pages to 2012 American League Wild Card Game and 2012 National League Wild Card Game. I think this is better but would have prefered a discussion first. Note that MLB.com, despite being the obvious source to go to, is not very consistant on this issue at all. They call it "Wild Card Game" here, sometimes they just call it "Wild Card" like in the heading here and then they call it "AL Wild Card game" here note the uncapped word "game". So that website only confuses the issue and not much help. I would like to see the specific source that explicitely states MLB's "official name" for the game is "2012 American League Wild Card Game". Strong Oppose - (posted this at the other talk page, didn't know a discussion was occuring here to) I strongly oppose this as this is one of the most important games of the year and garners massive media coverage. I think, at least for now, they have significant enough coverage to warrant their own articles, but we could definitely revisit this in a few months. WP:CCC--Go Phightins!
