Scrapping the draft?[edit]

From the article as currently written:

"As of 2010, it is uncertain whether the 2011 draft will take place. The collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the league and its players union expires at the end of the 2010–11 season, and sports media are speculating that the NBA may lock out the players, which would scuttle the 2011 draft."

The draft is to be held on June 23. The current CBA expires on June 30. This tells me the draft will take place as the CBA will still be in effect. I believe the article this statement is linked to is in error (about there being no draft). Agree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.236.187.107 (talk) 03:22, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. There was never any doubt about the 2011 draft being held - this is a mistake on the ESPN writer's part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.28.153.252 (talk) 01:25, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lucas Noguiera does not play for Estudiantes in the ACB[edit]

He actually plays in the 5th division level of Spain, not the first once. Called the Primera Nacional de Baloncesto.173.216.234.214 (talk) 09:43, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is Jimmer Fredette not in the draft for 2011?[edit]

He's not mentioned in the article? Yet he seems to think he will be drafted?

Can we get some info? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.36.156.54 (talk) 06:03, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article only mentions college underclassmen in the Early Entrant section because they're the ones who need to declare their eligibility for the draft. Fredette is a senior which means he is automatically eligible for the draft. Information about the eligibility of players can be read in the Eligibility rules section. Fredette and every other college seniors are not listed because it would not be practical to list every one of them when only several of them will be selected in the draft. — MT (talk) 06:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nikola Mirotić reverts[edit]

I noticed that Natg 19 had undone my edits regarding the citizenship of Nikola Mirotić twice. FIBA Europe has noted on one of its official sites that he has represented Spain at youth level—which requires citizenship in that country. To quote the article that I used as the reference (emphasis added): "A player that can't stay out of the headlines in Madrid is Mirotic, an all-tournament team selection at last year's U20 European Championship while representing Spain."

I left a note on Natg's talk page... let's see if he responds. I noticed that when I posted, his talk page only has inbound posts—no responses. Weird, considering that the user name was created back in early 2007. — Dale Arnett (talk) 05:49, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update: He responded. He was busy with other edits on the article and didn't realize I had made these edits. No need for further action.  :) — Dale Arnett (talk) 05:53, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maduabum traded[edit]

From Lakers' press release: EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have sent the draft rights to second round selection (56th overall) Chukwudiebere Maduabum to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for a future second round draft pick, it was announced today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.200.139.53 (talk) 18:04, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Start Time[edit]

The article states that the draft started at 7 eastern time but since the draft started a half hour later shouldn't it be stated that coverage of the draft began at 7. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.206.219.21 (talk) 13:29, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Derrick Williams listed as a Small Forward?[edit]

Derrick Williams is listed as a SF, when he was a F/C for Arizona, and is listed at 6'9, 250 lbs. He projects as a PF in the NBA, or at least as a combo forward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.151.63.234 (talk) 19:35, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes he was listed as PF by two of the three general references (Yahoo! and Sports Illustrated). However, since he insists that he is small forward, both SF and PF need to be listed as his position. I've edited the table to reflect this. — MT (talk) 20:08, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edited the lead[edit]

Removed the portion of the lead which made special reference to this being the last time the New Jersey Nets participated in the draft, and that the franchise was moving to Brooklyn, NY, and that they would not make a selection as the Brooklyn Nets until the 2012 Draft. I found this to be giving a lot of extra attention to the Nets, which didn't get any special treatment in the '11 Draft due to a name and arena change, and also, because the wording made it seem like the Brooklyn Nets would be an expansion franchise, when in fact, the changes the franchise has made have little effect on the other teams in the NBA or the draft. The mention of the Nets would probably be well suited for the 2011-12 NBA season article but the name change had little or no impact on the 2011 (or '12) Draft.
