Tropical Disturbance 01[edit]

This is a little early for the season to start, but just because it starts early, doesn't mean its going to be an above average season. Can anyone find a colored sat pic for the disturbance? Hurricanekiller1994 (talk) 16:53, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The only place would be NRL under 90S — On another note i need to check this with the SWIO BT and CB but i think we may have a record for the offical earliest start (01S/U 2007-08 doesnt count since it isnt offical by Reunion). Update without leaving wiki — i discovered that 2000-01 has a depression forming on August 1. Jason Rees (talk) 17:37, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changes at RSMC La Reunion[edit]

Hi guys — The WMO finally placed RSMC La Reunions report up and amongest other things i found out that Reunion are planning to develop "a new specialized website completely dedicated to the RSMC. The first version which is planned to open for the coming 2009-2010 cyclone season will be highly operationally oriented with access to all the real-time and archived products disseminated by the RSMC." Also "RSMC La Réunion has decided to start a re-analysis project based on the Dvorak re-analysis of past satellite imagery. This project, strongly supported by the last IWTC-VI and IBTrACS Workshop recommendations, has now become feasible thanks to the disposal of an archive of TC-dedicated satellite images developed by the NCDC (NOAA National Climate Data Center – Asheville). This so called HURSAT database contains both geostationary and AVHRR imagery from polar orbiting satellites. Preliminary actions have already been undertaken like the treatment of the NetCDF format for internal visualization of the geo-localized images on our workstations." and finally they are planning to go to 5 day forecasts instead of the usual 3 day ones.Jason Rees (talk) 20:36, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you think you should put official designations?[edit]

I like to use many places to get the info, and Almost everywhere I see ONE or 01S.ONE so, don't you think you should use that instead of Tropical Depression Four? No one knows what you're talking about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.17.121.30 (talk) 15:20, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Réunion's number designation is official which is 04R. - グリフオーザー (talk) 15:28, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I only have so much info on Anja[edit]

I tried my best to get it as accurate as possible but those 10-min winds are weird I put 100, and it popped out 115! I also changed the stuff towards the bottom (landfall info and other). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Syntheticalconnections (talkcontribs) 03:45, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Hurricane Small uses knots instead of mph 100 kts = 115 mph. --Priyanka 03:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

oh... Syntheticalconnections (talk) 16:38, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

think about it this way, most of the data on the JTWC, NHC, and JMA, etc. website best tracks are in knots. --Priyanka 16:58, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, you can misinform the public.[edit]

That's why I don't use you very much. I like to laugh at how much information you used to give me wrong, and the misinformation you give the public.

Btw, http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/TC/tc10/SHEM/01S.ANJA/ir/geo/1km_bw/

Syntheticalconnections (talk) 03:49, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What info is wrong? --Priyanka 03:50, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are not misinforming the public Anja is only 60kts by RSMC La Reunion who we go by for the 10 min winds not THE JTWC and we dont get anything wrong and in fact it seems like you are the one getting it wrong.Jason Rees (talk) 03:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From the JTWC website: Products on this website are intended for use by U.S. government agencies. Please consult your national meteorological agency or the appropriate World Meteorological Organization Regional Specialized Meteorological Center for tropical cyclone products pertinent to your country, region and/or local area. The JTWC is used by the US Navy and is not a WMO official RSMC and therefore is only used as a secondary source. --Priyanka 03:53, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's in freaking French!!! How do you expect me to get the real info. I think I can trust the nvay just as well. I only have to wait 30 minutes on updates. Syntheticalconnections (talk) 03:57, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They also do an English Verson which are linked to above and the US Navy (JTWC) comes after RSMC La Reunion.Jason Rees (talk) 03:59, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's in freaking French!!! How do you expect me to get the real info. I think I can trust the nvay just as well. I only have to wait 30 minutes on updates. You have two options:

  1. Read the english version that is linked under the products above this section or
  2. Have you ever heard of Google Translate or googling free online translator?

--Priyanka 04:11, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The 60kts I saw was the forecasted intensity in 12 hours.. the Reunion page still has 45kts for now, but whatever - グリフオーザー (talk) 04:15, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1. I can't find that. 2. Then you don't have the layout and you go back to the page and can't find it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Syntheticalconnections (talkcontribs) 04:56, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In this talk page, go to the Location of Advisories Section, all of RSMC La Reunion's products are in english. for an archive, to the archives link there, it is a FTP folder so it might take a little while. --Priyanka 15:44, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that helps... Syntheticalconnections (talk) 16:22, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

STS Anja[edit]

I like to know how 45 knots is Severe Tropical Storm status now did RSMC Reunion change the status for Forte Tempete Tropicale? -- グリフオーザー (talk) 04:06, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thats funny, I saw it as 60 kts on the latest advisory... --Priyanka 04:07, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I think that they have gotten too excited. --Priyanka 04:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
VOFFA: Scroll down to the end of the Advisory Package at 00z and you will find that Reunion isssued a corrected advisory round and upped Anja to 60kts. Jason Rees (talk) 04:13, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
