Minor non-claim to fame[edit]

As pointed out by Guido Fawkes today, [1] the Sunday Times recently claimed that this was the last occasion on which the Conservatives beat a Labour candidate in a by-election.[2] The Sunday Times' piece ignores the Mitcham and Morden by-election, 1982. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 23:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC) I agree but the confusion may have arisen because at that by-election Douglas-Mann had defected from Labour and was standing for the SDP Paulreed (talk) 12:26, 24 May 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulreed (talkcontribs) 12:22, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
