First ballot - wrong figures?[edit]

The figures from the first ballot are at odds with those reported in the Glasgow Herald at the time - it would indicate Foot has 110 votes and Short was ahead by 1.^[1] Not sure where the figures here have come from, but the 89 for Foot would seem to be wrong (and thus the percentage figures will be too). I have found that Butler's British Political Facts (2018_gives the 111, 89, 61 vote figures ^[2] cited here, so perhaps the Glasgow Herald was wrong.That said Labour had over 280 MPs at the time, so over 20 cannot have voted if these figures are correct.Dunarc (talk) 22:44, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
