This article, and the LA Times piece which is a major source, seem to say that LBJ was at the Century Plaza Hotel for a fundraiser. But surely not, since the Glassboro Summit Conference ran from 23rd to 25th in New Jersey. On 23rd he met with Kosygin there. That would put the riot in a different light, if the President was not inside, fine dining, whilst protesters were beaten outside. Foolishearthling (talk) 15:08, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know where LBJ actually was but we believed he was inside the hotel. As the very first person arrested at the event, I can tell you that while I did not see police violence other than being man handled, over the next three hours at least a dozen people were added to the police wagon. Each one was more and more bloody. This was a peaceful, if loud (hey hey LBJ) and angry (how many kids did you kill today?) protest. The LAPD showed their true colors. Their behavior was not a surprise to any young male. 2601:8C:97F:4EC0:E946:443E:5979:87B5 (talk) 18:57, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
