Page length[edit]

At 664,954 bytes, this page is too long; how should it be sub-divided? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:30, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Pigsonthewing: There were about four of these during WWI around 1918 and 1919. They are huge but I really don't know how we would divide them. I don't like the idea of having awards like A-M and then N-Z by recipient's last name. They are almost all military so couldn't do military vs civilian. I don't personally think they are hurting anything be so long, bc they are static lists that are divided well into sections. They are never edited unless someone wants to link a name, like just now I found a name that needed to be linked. And they rarely get much traffic so I don't think there is any kind of server load for the page, if is a concern. So I just don't see the point of dividing them bc it doesn't seem like the tag really applies (ie size makes it too difficult to navigate). МандичкаYO 😜 00:39, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • We could start by putting the Military Crosses into a separate article, then do the same for section 1.8, "The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire". In fact, the "MBE" section alone has over 1000 entries, which would justify a separate article. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:40, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
