ZSSK or ŽSSK[edit]

Hiya, is the abbreviation correct, shouldn't it be ŽSSK with the caron? Railwayfan2005 (talk) 09:31, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maintenance tags[edit]

I added tags for notability and primary sources, since the article in its current form does not adequately establish, through independent references, that the subject meets the notability criteria that apply to companies. All of the sources - the ones that work - appear to be primary. This article has been around for more than a decade under a sequence of titles. It's a shame that it is still in such a substandard state. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:49, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll note here for purposes of furthering the discussion that Alex Noble asserts, without providing evidence, that there is no notability problem. My goal with the tag was to request or encourage other editors to produce the sort of references needed to establish notability, especially after a discussion with an interested editor (who is now blocked, though). The next logical step would be, I suppose, AfD. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 23:30, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Operation[edit]

Trains[edit]

The company operates passenger transport on a substantial part of the network of Slovak infrastructure manager called Železnice Slovenskej republiky (Railways of the Slovak Republic). ZSSK currently operates Passenger trains (Os), Regional Express trains (REX), Regional fast trains (RR), Fast trains (R), Express trains (Ex), EuroCity trains (EC), InterCity trains (IC) EuroNight trains (EN) and SuperCity (SC) trains. Regional fast trains (RR) and fast trains (R) operate only on domestic services. Os, REX, Ex, EC, IC EN and SC trains operate also on international transport. In addition to tracks with a usual gauge (1 435 mm), the company also operates passenger transport on narrow gauge tracks with a gauge of 1 000 mm: ● Tatra Electric Railways ● Cog Railways between Štrbské Pleso and Štrba

  • Reason for the change: Adding actual information about the company on this profile: people from abroad do not know the main railway company in Slovakia and this could help them to find out what services they are offering. Unfortunately, not all information they have on their website in separated articles, thatś why I think this could be helpful.

Competition in the market[edit]

From 13 December 2020 ZSSK took over the operation of line no. 131 between Bratislava and Komárno, making Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko once again the only carrier performing passenger rail transport on a public service basis. On the Slovak liberalized rail market operate – Arriva, RegioJet and Leo Express, which offer commercial products in passenger rail transport on open access basis.
