Shipa Delivery

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shipa Delivery is a delivery company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).[1][2] The company was founded in 2016 by Borhene Ben Mena and was launched by global logistics provider Agility.[3]

History[edit]

Upon its launch in 2016, it focused on delivering electronics, luxury items, and apparel.[4]

In 2019 the company expanded its operations to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.[1][5][6]

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shipa Delivery has expanded its options to include refrigerated items, groceries, medicines, bank cards, SIM cards, etc.[2] In August 2021, the company opened its e-fulfilment center in Kuwait.[7]

Shipa Delivery offers a comprehensive range of services, including on-demand delivery, same-day delivery, next-day delivery, cash on delivery, track & trace, and e-commerce fulfillment.

Shipa Delivery was named ‘Last-Mile Delivery Provider of the Year’ at the ‘Landmarks in Logistics’ Awards 2022.[8] The same year, it received another award from Business Tabloid.[9]

How Shipa Elevates Last-Mile Delivery[edit]

The company boosts last-mile delivery in the following ways:

  • Its real-time tracking technologies monitor the movement of all orders. With the Shipa Delivery app, customers can manage their deliveries with a few taps, allowing them to track their packages, list their preferences, and receive real-time updates.
  • Its delivery vehicles are monitored in real time and, if necessary, rerouted to avoid potential bottlenecks.
  • Its data analytics optimizes delivery routes by considering traffic, weather, and customer preferences.
  • Its clients are alerted should unexpected situations arise, such as traffic jams, street closures, and lack of parking.
  • Its technology harnesses platforms such as SMS, WhatsApp, live chat, and web links to allow customers to communicate directly with drivers.

Operations[edit]

Shipa Delivery is the last-mile delivery service line of the Shipa LLC platform, which also includes Shipa Freight, Shipa Ecommerce, and Shipa Mall.[10][4] Agility committed an investment of $100m to launch the digital logistics platform, that lets businesses, entrepreneurs and consumers manage their freight, e-commerce, and urban deliveries online.

The company operates in the UAE and GCC countries and provides global, US, European, Chinese, and Middle Eastern companies with cross-border fulfillment services, end-to-end logistics, and data analytics.[10][11][12] As of 2023, company's CEO is Borhene Ben Mena.[3]

In 2021, Agility and Shipa announced the launch of a bonded, express road freight network to connect businesses and consumers across the GCC.

The service provides customers with less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload (FTL) options.
