Roxy Louw (born Roxanne Louw on 9 June 1987 in Cape Town, South Africa) is a South African DJ, model, actress, and surfer.[2] She has modelled for Sports Illustrated,[3] Renault,[4] Woolworths, Kauai, Vodacom, and Nashua Mobile, and has been featured by FHM.[5] She has also acted in films such as Blue Crush 2[6][7] and The Perfect Wave.[8][9] Louw was the international face of Oakley in 2005.[10] She has also recently been cast in Tropika Island of Treasure All Stars (season 10), which is scheduled to be released in late 2022.[11]

Early life[edit]

Roxanne Louw was born on 9 June 1987[4] to rugby player Rob Louw and Azille Louw in Cape Town, South Africa.[12][13] She grew up on a small holding in Durbanville, a rural residential suburb of the greater Cape Town metropolis.[14] Louw attended Durbanville Primary School and Stellenberg High School. At Stellenberg High School, she played provincial hockey.[4]

Career[edit]

At the age of 17, Roxy Louw was signed as a team rider with Oakley America by Seth Hulley when he noticed her surfing skills.[5] She went on to become the international face of Oakley.[10] As a professional surfer,[15] she has advocated for equal pay for female surfers[16] and has spoken out against online sexual harassment.[17]

In addition to being a surfer, Roxy Louw is also a professional model. She has modelled for Sports Illustrated, Renault,[4] Woolworths, Kauai, Vodacom, and Nashua Mobile, and has been featured by FHM.[5] She was also the face of Oakley's 2005–2010 international advertising campaign.[18][19]

In 2012, Louw launched a limited edition car in her name with Renault South Africa.[20]

She is also a registered Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.[21]

Personal life[edit]

Roxy Louw has two sisters, Mystique and Shahnee, as well as a brother called Robbie.[4] She is fluent in both English and Afrikaans.[21]

Roxy Louw is currently engaged to Sam Barton, a former New Zealand rugby player.[22][23]
