Mars Wright
Mars Elliot Wright (born 1995) is an American clothing designer who owns an LGBTQ-themed fashion company.[1][2][3]
Biography[edit]
Wright grew up in Joshua Tree, California. In 2017, Wright transitioned from female to male, moving to Los Angeles in order to do so safely.[1] His Life on Mars clothing brand features LGBTQ-themed designs on t-shirts, face masks, hoodies, hats and tote bags.[4] In 2007, Wright donated 25% of proceeds from clothing sales to Trans Lifeline, a charity which provides a crisis hotline for transgender people.[1]
Wright uses multiple terms to describe his identity such as queer, transgender, transmasculine, and non-binary. Both of his parents are supportive of him being transgender. Wright has described experiencing childhood trauma as a result of growing up impoverished.
Mars Wright is a painter, muralist, fashion designer, and activist. He founded the streetwear brand "Life on Mars" on social media, growing it into a thriving business with 3 runway shows and sending clothes across the world. Mars Wright continues to pave his way through the predominantly cis-dominated field of fashion with his custom pieces being shown on red carpets, music videos, live performances, and more. Mars has showcased his paintings in solo exhibitions in Joshua Tree and downtown LA, embracing the beauty of imperfection in his art and philosophy. He is dedicated to using his platform to advocate for social causes and inspire positive change through his creative work. He's most known for his pieces stating "Trans Joy is Resistance" and "Life is Worth Living"
Mars Wright is a transmasculine artist, painter, muralist, fashion designer, and activist. After creating stickers with affirming quotes about trans joy and posting them online, Mars witnessed his rapid success and was inspired to start his own clothing line. His designs feature gender-affirming quotes and powerful messages, aiming to provide a genuine and meaningful representation that goes beyond performative gestures.
Mars's artwork and clothing creations serve as a medium for queer and trans individuals to connect with one another and embrace their gender journey. He understands the significance of clothing in experiencing gender euphoria and views it as a way for people to explore and express their identity authentically.
Through this work, Mars aims to foster a sense of togetherness within the LGBTQ+ community. He has spoken at various community and art events, participated in fashion shows with trans models, and curated art galleries that celebrate trans joy. His activism extends to advocating for trans healthcare access and supporting young trans individuals to create a brighter future.
