Jared Keith Jones (born August 6, 2001) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2024.
Career[edit]
Jones attended La Mirada High School in La Mirada, California.[1][2] He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.[3] He signed with the Pirates rather than play college baseball at the University of Texas at Austin.[4][5]
Jones made his professional debut in 2021 with the Bradenton Marauders.[6] Over 18 games (15 starts), he went 3–6 with a 4.64 earned run average (ERA) and 103 strikeouts over 66 innings pitched.[7]
On March 25, 2024, the Pirates announced that Jones had made their Opening Day roster.[8] He formally had his contract selected on March 28.[9]
