Evil Empire is a French video game developer based in Bordeaux, France. The company was created in 2019 by former Motion Twin employees to provide long term support for Dead Cells, and to let the former company focus on developing new IPs. Evil Empire worked on DLC and updates for Dead Cells until 2024, then launching its first original title, The Rogue Prince of Persia in early access.[1]
History[edit]
Following the success of Dead Cells, Motion Twin desired to move on to new projects, while other team members wanted to keep supporting it. An agreement was made on licensing, and Evil Empire was spun out of Motion Twin and founded by former employees in 2019.[2] While Motion Twin was started as a worker cooperative, Evil Empire has a more traditional corporate structure.[3] After the release of the Return to Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells, Evil Empire announced they would be moving onto other projects.[4]
