William B. Turley (1800 – May 27, 1851[1]) was a justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court from 1835 to 1850.

elected December 4, 1835; reelected 1847; resigned 1850; born in Alexandria, Virginia; judge of Eleventh Circuit, 1829-35; judge of Common Law and Chancery Court at Memphis, 1850 until death[2]

One morning in May 1851, as Turley walked down the street in Raleigh, he suddenly stumbled and fell. While attempting to regain his balance by the use of his walking stick, it snapped in two under his weight, and he was impaled on a jagged half that ran through his chest near his heart. He died on May 27, 1851, after five days of torment.[1]
