Richard Dawson FREng [1] is Professor of Earth Systems Engineering at Newcastle University in the UK.

In 2020 he was appointed as Director of Research for the School of Engineering.

Education[edit]

Dawson received an MEng in Civil Engineering with study in Continental Europe from the University of Bristol. His year abroad was spent studying civil engineering in French at the Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France.

His Ph.D. in flood risk management was also from University of Bristol.[2]
