Peter Meso (also Peter Mešo) is a Slovak born pianist, composer, arranger, writer and street performer. He is known for creating and performing concert piano versions of the world's famous film soundtracks.

Early life[edit]

Meso was born in Slovakia in 1985. His father was a theatre director. He is of Jewish origin, with half Polish and partly French background.[1]

Education[edit]

In his early years, Meso became one of the laureates of the national Slovak Composition Contest for young composers "Talent Revúca".[2] On December 13, 2002, his composition Concertino Bar-Baroque for chamber orchestra won the first prize in the third category of the Czech national Composition Contest "Generace" for young composers organized annually since 1975 by AHUV with the cooperation of Janáčkův Máj and Český rozhlas Ostrava.[3] Members of the jury of the competition were Czech renown composers such as Milan Báchorek, Hanuš Bartoň, Svatopluk Havelka, Alois Piňos and Vít Zouhar.

Theatre, Radio and TV appearances[edit]

Meso appeared as a guest either alone or together with entertainer and singer Vladimír Hron on various major TV shows and national TV magazines.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] He also appeared as one of the main presenters in recurring TV documentary series "Příběhy Obrácení" released by Czech TV, during live stage shows, concerts and radio broadcasts in Czech Republic. Artistic approach[edit]

Meso is considered to be a crossover, classically trained musician with a repertory of classical, rock, jazz, pop and film music as well as his own compositions and transcriptions.

He arranged and performed music of many renown film composers for concert grand piano.[17] One of his piano semi-recitals took place at the New Stage of National Theatre of Prague accompanied by a ballet performance.[18]
