History[edit]

Mo'Cha Bubble Tea is a Canadian owned bubble tea chain operating in Ontario. The restaurants are characterized by a "vibrant bold" theme with light wood, darker backsplash and bright purple and green accents.

It was founded in Sarnia, Ontario in 2020 by Canadian entrepreneur and businessman, Moe Deol[1] to supplement lost revenue in his other ventures due to the pandemic. The concept grew into a franchise due to great demand.

The brand is owned by Zip Brands Inc.

Franchise[edit]

There are 13 store locations[2] in Ontario and currently expanding into other provinces across Canada. Each franchise owner completes a 14 day training divided into three segments. The franchise development support staff visit the store after opening to assist franchise owners.

The cost of a franchise is $15,000 which is paid once the franchise agreement has been signed.[3] The royalty fee is 4.5% of the total sales which is categorized under the franchise agreement and is paid on a weekly basis to Zip Brands. The marketing fee is an additional 1% of sales which is also paid on a weekly basis. The funds are kept in the "National Advertising Fund" and are used for advertisement and promotional costs. It is also required that franchisees pay $200 a month for a technology contribution.
