Kode Mono is an open-source variable typeface created by Isa Ozler and released under the SIL Open Font License. A developer typeface created for the Web3 community. During the design process, there were lots of typefaces that inspired. Some examples were Fira Mono, developed and designed by Nikita Prokopov (The Mozilla Foundation), and Menlo, designed by Jim Lyles and Charles Bigelow.

To have a symmetric grid to cover all sides of the glyphs, the angles of the shapes forming the letters were rotated which formed a four-by-three grid.[1]

On the Behance page you can find more detailed info about the process.[2]

Kode Mono is available in 2 other major open-source NixOS and Debian distributions besides Google Fonts.
