Joseph Kelman (April 1, 1927 - June 27 2009) was a Canadian Orthodox rabbi and community leader. Kelman served as the rabbi of the Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue. [1] Edit so not deleted.

Early life and education[edit]

Kelman was born in Vienna in 1927. At the age of 3 he immigrated to Toronto with his family. His father, Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kelman was a seventh generation rabbi. When he was 8 years old his father died, and his mother, left with six children, acted as a community leader in Toronto.[2] His is the brother of Wolfe Kelman.
