Hans Scholten (born Johannes Scholten; 1942) was a Dutch-Canadian researcher in theoretical computer science in the 1960s and 1970s.

Education[edit]

Scholten graduated from Picture Butte High School in 1960.[1] In 1964, Scholten received his bachelor of science in computer engineering from the University of Alberta.[2][3]

Work[edit]

During his work as a systems analyst at the University of Waterloo in the 1960s, Scholten published a series of reports and research papers. While employed by the University of Waterloo, Scholten collaborated with a number of important researchers, namely Wes Graham, Ralph Gordon Stanton, Donald D. Cowan, and William Kindree. Following his work at the University of Waterloo, Scholten worked as Data Processing Coordinator for the Waterloo County Board of Education in the 1970s.[4]

Death[edit]

Hans Scholten passed away on April 11, 1983.[5] Although Scholten's gravestone is inscribed Hans J. Scholten, his birth certificate is without a middle name. The J. may have been intended to denote Johannes, his legal first name.
