Samurai warrior Jin Sakai has to ignore his traditions and values in order to secure the freedom of Tsushima.

Production[edit]

In March 2021, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions announced the development of a film adaptation of the game, with Chad Stahelski directing.[1] In April 2022, Takashi Doscher was hired to write the screenplay.[2] In August, Andrew Koji expressed his desire to portray Jin Sakai in the film.[3] That same month Stahelski stated his intention to make the film with a complete Japanese cast, and spoken in the Japanese language, with Sony supporting the choice.[4] In June 2023, Stahelski announced the film was under "heavy development",[5] with him announcing in October that the script was ready.[6]
