Beth Porter is a British cellist, songwriter, and composer known both for her contributions to the music industry and to film music.
Collaborations and projects[edit]
Porter is a member of Lost Words Spell Songs,[1] a musical ensemble dedicated to bringing literature to life through music. She has performed at prestigious events such as BBC Proms.[2][3] Porter has toured with artists such as Newton Faulkner,[4] The Heavy,[5][6] and Peter Gabriel.[5]
Porter is also one half of The Bookshop Band,[7] alongside Ben Please. Together they have released 14n albums, the most recent of which was in collaboration with Pete Townshend.[8]
Notable film credits include contributions to Far From The Madding Crowd (2015)[9] and the BAFTA-winning animation The Eagleman Stag (2010).[10][11] She is also an award winning film composer, know for her collaboration with composing partner Ben Please, with an Ivor Novello nomination and British Animation Award win for her work on Aardman Animations' first animated musical, Robin Robin.[12][13]
