Avromi Freilich is the Chazan at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, a position he has held for over 30 years.[1]
He is also a speech and language therapist operating his own personal private paediatric clinic.[2]
Biography[edit]
Avromi, son of Rabbi Joseph Freilich, was born in October 1971. His family came from Gateshead before moving to London. Here the family attended Golders Green Beth Hamedrash, where Chazan Meir Lev was cantor, which "left a great impression" on him. Avromi's singing coaches and chazanut tutors include Solomon Chumchenko, Chazan Haschel, Maestro L Seymour, and more recently Mrs L Lider.[3]
Avromi was appointed Chazzan at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue (Norrice Lea) in the early 1990s. By 1995 he was already "holding a central role in the life of the shul and its services" and was appointed Chatan Bereshit that year.[4]
