Amu TV is an independent and impartial multimedia channel owned and operated by journalists, aimed at contributing to credibility, objectivity and creativity of Afghanistan’s journalism.
Headquartered in Virginia, United States, Amu TV launches its operation, offering digital news service delivered by a small but dedicated team of journalists coming together from Afghanistan, the region, Europe, and North America[1]. Amu is designed to serve the people of Afghanistan in both Farsi and Pashto languages by offering diverse media content to inform, educate, and entertain the audience. The current modest resources of Amu TV are drawn from private, NGO, and personal contributions of its members.

[2]The channel is named after the major river in Central Asia, symbolizing hope and connection amid difficult times. Amu TV is dedicated to providing diverse media content in both Farsi and Pashto languages to inform, educate, and entertain the Afghan audience.

Challenges and Impact[edit]
Amu TV operates in the face of significant challenges, including media censorship and restrictions imposed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Female journalists, in particular, face safety concerns, prompting many to work from outside the country. Nevertheless, Amu TV has emerged as a critical source of independent news and entertainment for the Afghan people, reaching a wide audience both within Afghanistan and globally.
