In mathematics, -2 (negative two or minus two) is the additive inverse of 2. It is the negative integer greater than (-3) and less than (-1).[1]

Exponentiation of -2[edit]

Exponentiation of a non-zero real number with negative two can be defined as taking the reciprocal of the square of that number. Therefore the definition can be made that . This definition can be extended to negative numbers.[2]
