Why are all the articles in this category, the Talk pages, rather than the articles themselves? Furthermore, it would be useful if a vetegory as large as this were divided by country. Peterkingiron 20:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Because the assessment tag is added to the Talk page rather than the article page. This is now standard practice that is followed by 81 other projects as well. There have been many, many discussions on other talk pages about the best place for metadata such as this. Unfortunately, there isn't an easy way to have the category point to the articles even though the tag is on the talk pages. Slambo(Speak) 20:39, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As to splitting by country, that's an interesting idea, but there are a few drawbacks. Several railroad companies worldwide (such as Canadian National Railway or Eurotunnel) cross national borders; including these articles in multiple categories would not only throw off the statistics, but would also heavily increase the complexity of {{TrainsWikiProject}} (see {{WPBeatles}} for an example of a banner with assessment subtopics).
