Strange Category[edit]

This is a very imprecise category. Technically people are not killed by firearms but by bullets fired by people, unless beaten to death or a fault causing a breech explosion. RashersTierney (talk) 14:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So you're suggesting we rename this to what exactly? Deaths by bullets? Kernel Saunters (talk) 16:03, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If thats what is intended then yes, something along the lines of 'Deaths by gunshot in Ireland' would be one way of addressing the matter. RashersTierney (talk) 16:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you think this is worth persuing you could raise a cfd as per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion Kernel Saunters (talk) 16:13, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can find better uses for my time, but I'll just add that from coroner's inquests etc. it is more usual to attribute cause of death to 'gunshot' rather than to 'firearm'. Editors should be equally precise when formulating categories.RashersTierney (talk) 16:19, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
