Is it okay to remove?[edit]

An image in a category is quite anomaly. Not sure that we should keep it.

Putting all Chakri dynasty members into subcategory[edit]

As I have taken a look at many royal family categories, this category needs some arrangement. If no one oppose then I will go ahead. For example Bhumipol should be in Category:House of Mahidol only.

Another issue is Category:Houses descended from the Chakri dynasty, a correct name of those subcategory should be like Category:House of Mahidol. For example, Category:Abhakara family should be Category:House of Abhakara. If no one oppose then I will rename them. --Polyesterchips (talk) 04:22, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The family categories were previously named as you describe but were renamed to the current title following Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2017 February 24#Category:House of Abhakara. The discussion wasn't well attended, so this could be changed, but to rename them again, you should start newer WP:CfD discussion. There are instructions on that page, and WP:Twinkle can be used to simplify the process. As for diffusing the members into the subcategories, personally my view has been that the main category is people who held royal status (mom chao and above), while the subcategories contain everyone of those bloodlines. That will be lost by following your suggestion, though it's not a great deal of a loss (they still can be browsed by rank, whose categories aren't cluttered by that many pre-Chakri royals anyway). The larger issue is that it would likely necessitate the creation of a lot of small categories with little potential for expansion, which are not preferable. There will also be issues with individuals higher up on the tree. How would you categorise Surasinghanat, whose children became the progenitors of four named families, though he was a member of none of them? --Paul_012 (talk) 10:03, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PS "If no one oppose[s] then I will rename them" does not work for categories. Renaming established categories should nearly always take place through CfD. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:04, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Polyesterchips, it seems you've already gone ahead with the changes anyway. Would you like me to start the CfD? --Paul_012 (talk) 11:34, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please start the CfD. Paul_012 I will certainly do it next time, as I was confused about talk page/ category discussion page. Thanks for your help.--Polyesterchips (talk) 02:35, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
