that this category is really any sculpture that contains some allegorical element in them. The statue of Brigadier General Albert Pike, for example is primarily a statue of the guy. it does include an allegorical figure at the base. However (i.e. opinion) I would not call this ensemble an "allegorical sculpture"]. This is true of others here. If having any allegorical component is enough to qualify for including here then there are a lot more to add, but i don't think it is a good idea. I think, with this name, the category should be limited to pieces such as Alma Mater (New York sculpture) rather than the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial which does include one allegorical figure. I include the 'allegorical sculpture' category whenever an article's prose mentions any degree of sculpture specifically described as allegorical. I see your point above, but I also think your method could be a bit too subjective. ---Another Believer(Talk) 02:31, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly I wanted to talk to you about this, i take your point about "allegorical" being mentioned in the article as being a good one. I might raise the question elsewhere just to see if anyone is listening. I suspect that it will be up to us to decide and i am not pushing hard for any particular outcome. I am very interested in the topic of the use of allegory in sculpture in the USA and it is not often I get to actually discuss it with anyone, which means that I rarely hear an opinion other than my own and I rarely surprise myself any more. Yeah, I try to be pretty black and white re: categorization, and only add categories that are specifically confirmed by article prose. Therefore, if I see "allegorical" and "sculpture" (or "statue"), I'm adding the "allegorical sculpture" category. ---Another Believer(Talk) 02:53, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
