Problem with the renaming of this category[edit]

The renaming of this category assumes that all of the shows in that category are original programing of Adult Swim and/or Cartoon Network. This is not the case. Some of the programs on Adult Swim (and in the previously named category) are not original programming. This should have been taken into consideration before the article as renamed. Further, IMHO, the category renaming process should include a post to the talk page of each article in that category (something easily done by a bot). Most users keep individual articles in their watchlist, not the thousands of category pages that their collective articles may fall into. Has this been done, the current issue might have been avoided. ++Arx Fortis 17:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am in the process of removing the programs that were not original to Adult Swim. I have removed about a third of the inappropriately categorized articles. Please feel free to help with the removal. Otto4711 18:10, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, I agree with Otto's rationale for the rename nomination: "the networks or channels to which a TV show is syndicated is not a defining characteristic of the show. Could lead to programs being categorized in dozens of different categories." The fact that the rename ended up with some articles that were no longer applicable to the new category was also discussed. --Kbdank71 18:19, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • As for the CFD process of whether or not to add a notice to every article in the category, I believe this was already discussed, although for the life of me I can't remember where or when. I think it came down to it wasn't a good idea. I'll see if I can find the discussion. --Kbdank71 18:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe that all of the non-original programming articles have now been removed. Otto4711 18:54, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I supported the rename exactly so the non-original programming would be removed; that rationale was clearly stated in the proposal and a clear aim of the new name. Postdlf 03:26, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
