Prior to December 23, 2017, Prince Edward Island had a municipal status type of 'community'. On December 23, 2017, municipalities with 'community' status became rural municipalities. This category is for those municipalities that held ceased holding their incorporated 'community' status as a result of amalgamation or dissolution before the status type was changed to rural municipality in late 2017.
