Bajrangdas was a saint from Bagdana village of Mahva Taluka in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat. He is known as Bajrandas Bapa, Bapa Sitaram and Bapa by his devotee.[1][2]
Life[edit]
Bajrangdas Bapa's family was originated from Rajasthan. Ramanand Sadhu then moved from Rajasthan to Bhavnagar District of Gujarat. Bajrangdas was born in 1906 in Zhanzaria Hanuman Temple in the village of Adhewada as Bhaktiram to Shivakunvarba who was the mother of Bajrandas.[1][3][4] His father's name was Haridasbapu. At the age of 11, Bajrangdas met many monks. he met his spitrual teacher 'guru' in Ayodhya where he became a disciple and attended the Kumbh Mela in Nashik.[5] He also visited different places such as Surat, Palitana and Mumbai. Some of his famous parcha is when Bapa Bajrangdas was joining a congregation of sadhus in Mumbai during the summer. Then the congregation of monks expressed their desire to drink water, there was a great scarcity of drinking water. Guruji asked Bapa to arrange water. Following Guruji's order, Bapa Bajrangdas digging a hole in the sand of the sea with his hands to draw water and sweet water came out.[6] Once when Bapa was passing through the forest with his Guru and his sadhu congregation, a herd of lions met on the road and Bapa chanted the Sitaram name to them and ordered the herd to move away from their path and the sadhu congregation moved on.[7] In 1941, Bajrangdas Bapa went to Bagdana and lived in a small cottage and built and ashram.[8] Bajrangdas bapa died on 9th January 1977 at 5pm.[9]
Temples[edit]
Bajrangdas Bapa's temples are mostly founded in the state of Gujarat. Bagdana is known as the main temple of Bajrangdas bapa. Along with the temple, Smaller shines are also built of Samadhi Mandir, Kal Bhairav statue, Temple of Rama where Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman, Temple of Annapurna Devi, Ganesh temple and Hanuman temple.[10]
