Welcome![edit]

Hello, Ccaassss, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Elysia and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

checking in[edit]

Hey Ccaassss, good to see you in the weekly meetup earlier. Let me know if I can help you get back on track with editing or if you have any questions! Cheers, Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:26, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
Thanks for being so thoughtful and deliberate about how Wikipedia covers living people! Keep up the good work! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for that photo, it is great! How ever did you get it? I hope you don't mind that I cropped it down to the subject? If you do, please say, and we'll figure something out. --GRuban (talk) 15:50, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@GRuban: You're so welcome, thanks for the thanks! (I'm new to Wikipedia so it feels good to get some acknowledgement!) I definitely don't mind the cropping-- I appreciate it. Re: how I got it, I have some mutual friends with Ortberg and then he put me in touch with the photographer, who was willing to submit it under a CC license. Super lucky connections and generosity, basically! I'm on a small mission to make sure trans people get accurately represented on here, especially visually. Ccaassss (talk) 15:57, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nice! Would it be too much to ask if you can similarly get a picture of Nicole Cliffe? --GRuban (talk) 16:01, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! i can totally try! Give me a sec and I'll figure it out! Ccaassss (talk) 16:03, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I also appreciate your effort to get an updated photo included in Daniel Ortberg's article! I'm optimistically keeping an eye out for up-to-date CC-licensed photos of The Wachowskis to include there, but that may be a trickier challenge since I don't have any special connections. :) Dreamyshade (talk) 00:49, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Dreamyshade: Ha! I don't think I have a special connection there either, but maybe going through the scholar who just wrote a book about their work-- Cael Keegan-- would work? Maybe he has access to more images or knows someone who could help with the permissions, since he surely had to do that for the monograph. I can maybe try reaching out to him, if you think that would be helpful? Ccaassss (talk) 14:38, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's a good idea! Sure, I think it would be great if you had a chance to reach out to him and see if he'd be interested - nice that you have an example you can show him of a similar project. Dreamyshade (talk) 23:43, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
