Menstruation is part of the WikiProject Biology, an effort to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to biology on Wikipedia. Leave messages on the WikiProject talk page.BiologyWikipedia:WikiProject BiologyTemplate:WikiProject BiologyBiology articles
Is the exclusive use of the word "women" (and "girls") appropriate in this article? There are men, nonbinary people, and intersex people that experience menstruation due to having a uterus; using just "women" seems to me like it overly generalises the group of people that experience it and excludes trans people. (Usually I'd be bold and change it myself, but I'm on mobile and also don't have the energy for a big edit like that right now.) This is mentioned briefly under Menstruation#Etymology and terminology, but Wikipedia has consistently rejected replacing the term wholesale. This has also been discussed in the archives, e.g. Talk:Menstruation/Archive 2#Reverted changes (gendered language). This is, after all, how sources on the topic generally write about it, so we are in good company in following that. Please also note the 3rd, 4th, and 6th bullet points here, especially this community consensus. Crossroads-talk- 18:17, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
