Additional Data for Voter Turnout

The phase-wise voter turnout data officially released by the Election Commission of India is trifurcated into Male, Female and Third Gender. Since the data is official and adds to the comprehension of the reader, I recommend an addition of a small table below the state-wise breakup, enumerating a phase-wise gender-wise matrix, or if it does not make the state-wise table cumbersome, which I believe will, then within the state-wise table itself.

Impact - Last section of page incorrectly written

However, on the day the election results were announced, the Sensex crashed to the worst level in 4 years. This is incorrectly worded, it should rather mean a single day fall in 4 years, not to the worst level in 4 years. Clarkck (talk) 13:57, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

Merge Proposal

Suggest merging Results of the 2024 Indian general election into the current 2024 Indian general election page per WP:DUP and WP:Overlap. The general elections overall page already has a robust section on results, broken out by the same categories as the results specific page (alliance, state, constituency), and so am not sure what the new page is adding. Plus there are bound to be referencing issues with that page (currently no references listed) and I anticipate the % change calculations will be difficult to support through WP:RS, so we'd be treading on WP:OR. Against; The Election Commission releases documents that accurate describe the %votes polled a few days after the initial results, they were used in Results of the 2019 Indian general election thereby following WP:OR. Results section showing incorrect information

BJP got 235,973,935 votes as is rightly mentioned in the infobox on the top. But in the Results section ('By alliance and party' subsection), it is incorrectly shown as 157,039,540. Time to add a map?

Considering the ECI has declared every seat and results are being updated on the page, I thought now might be an appropriate time to add a map for the results. Added. Pretty decent map, thank you. I recommend adding lines with the arrows to each of the zoomed in cities, it's pretty hard to read without them. I can't think of other QoL changes that could be made comparing the 2019 map, but I reckon there's still more we can eventually iterate on. Soni (talk) 15:45, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

@Soni I can definitely try do that, but it might be hard because of the distance between the insets and their respective sections on the full map. I could re-arrange the insets to make that work, though. The other idea I had was to add boxes around the zoomed-in areas on the full map, and only include constituency numbers for those areas in the insets, if that makes sense. We can iterate over the options and see which one is easiest to understand. There's a lot of maps like this, but none of them have perfected it.

I honestly think any party which won less than 5 seats at the Lok Sabha should be bundled under "NDA (Other)", "INDIA (Other)" or "Other (Other)". There is just too many parties with similar enough symbols that this map is fairly unreadable with the colours as they are. Maybe any national parties plus those with at least 5 seats. Otherwise the maps will keep being pretty unreadable. Keeping it to parties with 5+ seats would give us useful info but limit it to the most pertinent. Soni (talk) 16:40, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Results discrepancy

The current results table shows the total number of seats won by the INDIA coalition to be 234 while, for example, NDTV lists it as 232. Can someone figure out the source for this discrepancy? And also cite sources for this and other results in the wikipedia article so that they comply with WP:V. Abecedare (talk) 15:19, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha

The infobox and the results table both show the NDA at 293 while the NDA table under "Parties and alliances" show the NDA at 292. This seems to be down the fact that the party Sikkim Krantikari Morcha is included as part of the NDA in the results table but not in the alliance table. Since the page for SKM says the party is currently a member of the NDA and the map on this very article lists SKM under "other NDA parties" it seems like SKM should be listed in the alliance table for the NDA.

Btw this same issue exists on the NDA's own article looking at the "strength in parliament" table versus both the 2019 and 2024 results table. Orca6771 (talk) 20:44, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

It is not neutral. It also seems that it isn't worthy of being in the lead as it wasn't rampant and the lead is supposed to be a concise summary of what the body of the article says, largely. "The lead should stand on its own as a concise overview of the article's topic. It should identify the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points, including any prominent controversies" as per WP:Lead.-
