Controversies[edit]
In May 2009, the Evening Standard reported that Chandrasinghe said that his staff and shops had been targeted by Tamil youth as part of a hate campaign due to his Sinhalese background.[2]
In November 2013, a Sam's Chicken location was fined £1750 by Ealing Council for illegal dumping of 35 rubbish sacks over seven nights. The shop owner had previously been fined for similar offences in 2011.[3]
In March 2014, food hygiene inspectors discovered that a worker at a Sam's Chicken location in east London had been forced to live in a windowless bedroom behind the kitchen.[4]
