Friendly “Tact” or “Wand”?[edit]

So, according to Crunchyroll, that they are referring the Friendly Tact as a “wand”, despite referring Delicious Party’s Party Candle Tact as a “tact”, and it’s 8th episode title translating Oishina Town as “Delicious Town”, but still uses said original name for the subtitles. In addition, I heard Crunchyroll is using artificial intelligence for their subtitles 2600:8801:42A:D200:566:36E4:9F2C:F930 (talk) 15:58, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So, I searched up and turns out Crunchyroll isn’t using AI on subtitles. In addition, I think you are referring the changes to the episode descriptions; apparently Crunchyroll is referring Tropical-Rouge’s Grand Ocean as “Gran Ocean” for both episode titles and subtitles, despite articles covering the series still referring it by the said original name for the character descriptions and episode descriptions. With this, it seems that this discussion would be over implanting the word “tact” over “wand” for episode descriptions.

Edit: The episode description edits are implanted; although we’ll see if other users here will accept the name changes. 2600:8801:42A:D200:91C:B86B:63BC:8F19 (talk) 06:11, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 21 May 2024[edit]

Crunchyroll's official title. [1] HelloYu0910 (talk) 08:26, 21 May 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. BilledMammal (talk) 10:33, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The wiki fandom has named it Wonderful Pretty Cure! Even the Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure is named pretty cure. Even though it's named Soaring Sky! PreCure on Crunchyroll Anime1990 (talk) 23:21, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Besides PreCure is a short name for Pretty Cure Anime1990 (talk) 23:53, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of the previous Pretty Cure series are named Pretty Cure even though it's called PreCure Anime1990 (talk) 00:03, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fandom wiki is not a reliable source. HelloYu0910 (talk) 13:27, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to the Google search, the result number under "Wonderful Precure!" is 7,180,000 [2] As for "Wonderful Pretty Cure!", the result number is 68,800,000 [3]. Beside that, the logo on the original title also have "Wonderful Precure!" as its' English title. HelloYu0910 (talk) 13:43, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When you translate the Japanese word it says Wonderful Pretty Cure not Precure Anime1990 (talk) 13:47, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
all the PreCure series are called pretty cure from 2020 to present. Here is the link https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pretty_Cure&wprov=rarw1 Anime1990 (talk) 13:57, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PreCure is just a shortened word for Pretty Cure so it's real name should be Pretty Cure Anime1990 (talk) 14:03, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then, it turn back to the original problem once again. "Wonderful Precure!" is the official Toei Animation's title and Crunchyroll's title. Translating "Precure" to "Pretty Cure" still doesn't change the fact that it still the official name of Toei Animation and Crunchyroll. For Healin' Good, Tropical-Rouge and Delicious Party, the Toei Animation USA use "Pretty Cure" [4], so those are not necessary to change, base on the fact that the company use "Pretty Cure" on those series. As for the Soaring Sky, Wonderful and the other series, Toei Animation USA still used "Precure" as the title [5]. HelloYu0910 (talk) 14:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All the picture of PreCure series from 2020 are called PreCure but are called pretty cure in Wiki so you don't need to move it back to PreCure. Unless you want to change all the pretty cure series to precure. One guy tried to change the Soaring Sky Pretty Cure to PreCure even though Crunchyroll named it soaring sky precure but was reverted back to pretty cure Anime1990 (talk) 14:37, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then, it should be changed.
First, the Precure series from 2020 to 2022 are using "Pretty Cure" as the title, but for 2023 and 2024, it revert back using "Precure" as the title [6].
Second, where did see the rename edit of "Soaring Sky!"? I try to search up for it, but I just cannot find the edit. HelloYu0910 (talk) 20:46, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was a long time ago and didn't transfer the history of the page edit. Delicious Party Pretty Cure was named Pretty cure in IMDB https://m.imdb.com/title/tt18246604/ but says original title should be PreCure. Same for Tropical- Rouge Pretty Cure it was named Pretty Cure in IMDB https://m.imdb.com/title/tt13721276/ but says original title should be PreCure. If you click on Pretty Cure https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Cure
it says this "The Pretty Cure series (プリキュアシリーズ, Purikyua Shirīzu, also titled PreCure)" Anime1990 (talk) 23:41, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think you get it wrong, I'm not talking about the English title in the Japanese logo, the source of this website is the official Toei Animation USA website. Besides, IMDB is also not a reliable source, due to the fact that it's user-generated. HelloYu0910 (talk) 05:17, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This person BaldiBasicFan redirected Soaring Sky! PreCure to Pretty Cure from the edit history
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soaring_Sky!_Pretty_Cure&action=history&offset=20230108201550%7C1132421128&limit=500
He also did it for Wonderful PreCure here the link https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wonderful_Pretty_Cure!&action=history&offset=20240110025349%7C1194657604&limit=500 16 Dec 2023 the next user cancelled his redirect Anime1990 (talk) 14:38, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the external links at both Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure and Wonderful Pretty Cure
They are both named Pretty Cure even though Anime News Network names them PreCure. Anime1990 (talk) 14:49, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
if you go to this website https://www.toei-animation-usa.com/pretty-cure.html it only shows that only 4 Pretty Cure series are named Pretty Cure
(HUG! Pretty Cure, Healin' Good Pretty Cure, Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure, Delicious Party Pretty Cure) even though wikipedia named the first series Pretty Cure. Anime1990 (talk) 15:12, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Some have alternative titles saying Pretty Cure. The USA Toei has not named the Wonderful Pretty Cure (PreCure) in the list yet. Anime1990 (talk) 15:20, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I really wish Toei sticks to one name because there are sometimes argues in the talk pages like this talk page in Soaring Sky Pretty Cure talking about redirecting to PreCure. Here is the link https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Soaring_Sky!_Pretty_Cure Anime1990 (talk) 15:29, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
About the redirection, it is completely normal to redirect when there is no info about the new Precure series [7][8][9]. HelloYu0910 (talk) 22:10, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
look at Blackgaia he/she removed the redirect Pretty Cure from Wonderful PreCure https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wonderful_Pretty_Cure!&diff=prev&oldid=1194067761&title=Wonderful_Pretty_Cure%21&diffonly=1
He/she also removed the redirect Pretty Cure from Soaring Sky PreCure https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soaring_Sky!_Pretty_Cure&diff=prev&oldid=1132258389&title=Soaring_Sky%21_Pretty_Cure&diffonly=1 but named the title of the image Soaring Sky Pretty Cure
I think BaldiBasicFan the PreCure should be called Pretty Cure because the Franchise name of the series are called Pretty Cure that was created in Wikipedia Article.
I watch the series and they call the characters PreCure with english subtitles in the films. Anime1990 (talk) 23:20, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean? I don't quite understand what you mean... HelloYu0910 (talk) 03:17, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Mascots for Pretty Cure call the girls PreCure not Pretty Cure. Anime1990 (talk) 06:16, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, and...? HelloYu0910 (talk) 08:25, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Usually we name Pretty Cure series by the franchise name Pretty Cure not the the Toei name PreCure Anime1990 (talk) 15:05, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Stick to the suggested title by Toei. Period. We don't need this long, totally hard to understand bs. And no, you cannot use fan sources are sources. This violates several wikipedia policies alone.
This is why I never like fans like these. BlackGaia02 (talkpage if you dare) (talk) 13:05, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
then we have to move Soaring Sky Pretty Cure to PreCure because toe name for Soaring Sky is PreCure not Pretty Cure. But the USA Toei has no name for Wonderful PreCure (Pretty Cure) yet so we have to wait and see. Anime1990 (talk) 13:56, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The naming of the shows IS your problem, not everyone else. Please drop the useless and baseless reasoning. BlackGaia02 (talkpage if you dare) (talk) 14:22, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But you are the one who named Soaring Sky Pretty Cure when the page is out.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Soaring_Sky!_Pretty_Cure&diff=prev&oldid=1132258389&title=Soaring_Sky%21_Pretty_Cure&diffonly=1 But the toei says PreCure for Soaring sky Pretty Cure series I even tried translating the Japanese word it says PreCure for Soaring Sky PreCure
For Wonderful PreCure it says Pretty Cure even the external link says Wonderful Pretty Cure to Anime News Network Wonderful Pretty Cure! (anime) at Anime News Network's encyclopedia Anime1990 (talk) 15:38, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the title never changed but the info box of series changed to PreCure for Soaring Sky Anime1990 (talk) 15:45, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
usually Toei gives 2 names for PreCure series (Pretty Cure)
Right know toei has 1 name for Wonderful Pretty Cure (PreCure). Anime1990 (talk) 15:54, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First, just change "Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure" to "SOARING SKY! PRECURE", it is not that difficult, and can easily do it in 10 secs.
Second, the official name for Wonderful is either "WonderfulPrecure!" by the logo of the series [10], or "Wonderful Precure!" which is Crunchyroll's official title [11].
I think it's pretty clear that it should be change, and there's still some series that need to change.
Name Sources:
HelloYu0910 (talk) 08:52, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Some of the PreCure series have 2 Names one is an alternative name which some are called Pretty Cure
Go to this website https://www.toei-animation-usa.com/pretty-cure.html the first Pretty Cure series is called Pretty Cure until Soaring Sky is called PreCure. I am talking about the beautiful logos that use Pretty Cure not the PreCure that is black. Anime1990 (talk) 09:14, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, just stick with the title under the logo. And also, the list that I made were those that a need to change. I have search though all Precure page, and list any series which doesn't match the Toei's official name. HelloYu0910 (talk) 09:39, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You could change the name in ten seconds, but do so without consensus would be wrong. I have to agree with @User:Blackgaia02 100% here. I see no reason for a change at this time. Besides, some of the changes you are proposing, in page name changes, would lead to further confusion. Historyday01 (talk) 13:08, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Historyday01 Wait, did I mistaken @Blackgaia02's message or something? I just want to point out the fact that the title of Precure pages isn't the same title as the official one [12], and I'm suggesting to change it, that's all I wanted to point out. HelloYu0910 (talk) 13:30, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That page is very inconsistent, however, as some are described as "Pretty Cure" (including a few you proposed to change, rather than "PreCure", with the term "Pretty Cure" used at least 30 times on the page itself, including in reference to HUG! Pretty Cure, Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure, Healin' Good Pretty Cure, Delicious Party Pretty Cure, and Pretty Cure All Stars, among others). Furthermore, one source (and one webpage at that) isn't enough to justify changing a whole bunch of pages on here. The sources you listed before, specifically the logo for Wonderful! Pretty Cure and the Crunchyroll page for that series aren't enough either.Historyday01 (talk) 14:42, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Historyday01 but wanted to make HelloYu0910 happy by changing the article name saying that you have to move pages to have new article name. Anime1990 (talk) 16:44, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Renaming one series should be made to be consistent with the entire Pretty Cure/Precure franchise. An RM should extend to all of them and establish that Precure is the common name of the franchise and whatever exceptions need to be made. Each article's body text would require updating to reflect any name changes and also list the unshortened name. ― Synpath 23:01, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support based on WP:COMMONNAME used by reliable English sources. "Wonderful PreCure" is the name used by Crunchyroll,[13][14] Anime News Network,[15][16] Comic Book Resources,[17] Otaku USA,[18] and Time of India.[19] I have not found a single reliable English language source that uses "Wonderful Pretty Cure" as the English title. All the hits that do come up are user-generated forums and wikis and unscrupulous retail sites selling potentially bootleg items. Finally, what titles the other series use should depend on what reliable English-language sources use. For some, that would be Pretty Cure. For most of the rest, it will be PreCure. There is no requirement to arbitrarily dictate a consistent naming convention for all franchise series articles, especially when reliable English-language sources use no consistent naming convention from series to series. 216.30.147.90 (talk) 23:30, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sure @HelloYu0910 wanted to have consistent naming for Pretty Cure series even if we have to change some Pretty Cure to PreCure we might have to the change the franchise name of Pretty Cure to PreCure to make it consistent and the characters title of Pretty Cure to PreCure. Anime1990 (talk) 05:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Anime1990 I think you get the wrong idea. I actually just simply want to let Precure series matches it official title, and that is what I want to talk about for a very long time. HelloYu0910 (talk) 08:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
