If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you click on the history tab at the top of the page, you can see previous versions. Look at the first version of this talk page that I edited. I don't want to go into any more detail, because I don't want to repeat my error. On a related topic, you can request a change of username, if you do have any privacy concerns. WP:3RR

I was trying to figure out how to create legitimate links to the page too. What I seemed to find were mentions in references. I suppose one could go to pages where people have referenced items from blackpast.org and create a wikilink in such references. Some people may think that that is overlinking per WP:MOS and people regularly remove such "publisher" links in references to organizations like the New York Times. Are there people or organizations that have actually talked about using blackpast.org where such comments could reasonably be added to the text?
