I have heard that Gutenberg created several versions of each letterform in order to emulate handwriting more accurately. In handmade manuscripts, not one letter would be identical to another, which created a sort of texture that made the printed type look somewhat sterile (couldn't be as uniform as today's yet). Can anyone confirm this information, and perhaps provide me with the source? thanks!----Lorena

Gutenberg statue[edit]

I seeking an interested buyer for Thee Gutenberg bronze Statue,

This is indeed the same Gutenberg figure as the Jean Pierre David d' Angers monument, a twice life size bronze statue which stands on a pedestal in the Square at Strasbourg, France. There was only one cast of Gutenberg among David d' Angers superb bronzes of the 19th century.
