This is not a regular polyhedron, but it is based from one. A class I geodesic sphere like this is based from a regular icosahedron, and is formed by inserting a vertex into the centre of each face and adjusting the position of the central vertex until it conforms to the same radius as all other vertices (versus the centre of the sphere). Such a polyhedron will always have 12 vertices surrounded by five edges (producing pentagon shapes) with all other vertices surrounded by six edges (producing hexagon shapes). This particular geodesic has had its faces subdivided three times compared to a regular icosahedron. --Jtgibson (talk) 22:46, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
