Just curious here: What kinds of trees are on these mountains? Why is the vegetation brown? It seems to me that the dominant flora would be evergreen gymnophytes. Did something kill them? Or are these trees deciduous? (I realize that the brown color of the leaves makes a nice effect with the sandstone walls, but I would like to know how that happened.)

I'm pretty sure the trees here are just giving off a brown-orange reflection in the morning sunlight. The snow is probably a factor as well. --Herald Alberich (talk) 19:54, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can see that the trees in the shade are all snow-covered, so it's safe to assume that the sunlit ones are similarly covered, making the color a reflection of the morning sun. howcheng {chat} 16:21, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
